"Wow - what a show they put on!" - Gilles Peterson
After their short festival whistle-stop last summer and extensive club tour in fall, Idris Ackamoor ☥ The Pyramids return to Europe to present more sounds from their much-lauded new album "We Be All Africans", which has been produced by studio-magician and former Poet of Rhythm Max Weissenfeldt in Berlin. Spreading the gospel of "Cosmic" Jazz worldwide via the good folks over at Strut in London, "Africans" propels the collective's foundation myth, their extensive travels all across Africa in 1972, when the band members studied traditional music in Ghana, Kenya, and Ethiopia, into the present time to create some truly timeless music.
But listening to The Pyramids on album and seeing Gilles Peterson's favorite band live is a completely different story: Their highly theatrical performances are rituals defeating the fission between the performers and the audience, and all that dancing and chanting will elevate your mind and your body, promised!
Next to that Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids are always interested in community-based social and musical activities, like their fantastic "Music is the Healing Force of the Universe Community Workshop" in Berlin in May 2015!
