CIRCLE

they are back with a veagance after hibernating for almost 2 years:
finnlandŐs cult outfit number one, CIRCLE,
is finally blasting the NEW WAVE OF FINNISH HEAVY METAL (NWOFHM) on the international club and
festival stages again. the 2 weeks of supporting fellow noise
rockers ISIS all across europe in november and december 2009 were only a
try-out: make sure to catch their equally
explosive and hypnotic live shows in
the grey area between kraut, psychedlic, hard and math rock.
formed in 1991, CIRCLE is the most visible and
prolific name in the
finnish rock underground.

CLUSTER

CLUSTER's new album QUA, their first studio
recording in 14 years, will be out on KLANGBAD january 2010 /
their classic SKY releases of the 70es
and early 80es are currently reissued by BUREAU B

among others BRIAN ENO, DAVID BOWIE,
AUTECHRE, TORTOISE and MOUSE ON MARS are quoting CLUSTER as a major inspiration. the legend goes
that ENO enjoyed working and hanging out with CLUSTER in their hideout in a former farm house in rural FORST
so much, that BOWIE literally had to drag his then producer
back to finish his album. CLUSTER can be easily understood
as "the originators of the space age" (as they have been
dubbed in japan) or the forefathers of the recent COSMIC DISCO hype.
at the age of 74 and 65 HANS-JOACHIM ROEDELIUS and DIETER MOEBIUS are stronger and
more vital than ever,
maintaining their almost naive pleasure to
constantly re-invent their unmistakable music on stage.

CLUSTER is also available with the astral doom metal / disco collective
CHROME HOOF (CLUSTER have also contributed to the HOOFS' upcoming album) and -
for a maximum of eye candie - together with
austria's leading visualists LUMA.LAUNISCH.

the planet rock dub department is mighty proud
to present its favorite reggae label: JAHTARI! hailing
from germany's main sub-bass hub leipzig they feed the circuits of
their laptops with vintage computer
game soundtracks, mind and body massaging bass and horns
that make the walls of babylon bow down low. for the lack of a better term
they call their style DIGITAL LAPTOP REGGAE, combining the best elements of 80's digi dub,
crisp C64 aesthetics and the spirit of classic jamaican dub.

female chief rocker SOOM T, denmark's prince of weird'n'deep deejaying
BO MARLEY (of infamous carnivorous uber-hit FLEISCH fame), leipzig's own soundbwoy

these guys are the bomb: KEITH and HANK SHOCKLEE have produced some of the most influential hiphop

US BACK and ICE CUBE's AMERIKKKA'S MOST WANTED), have
developed sampling as an art form in its own right and forever
changed the way we listen to popular music. now they return as a crowd

LAU NAU (ne LAURA NAUKKARINEN) is the godmother of the recently much discussed finnish psych folk scene.
her latest album, NUKKUU, released on
chicago's LOCUST music, is nothing less than a proof of her
full artistry: these are more than just songs, these are
haunting soundscapes of an intoxicating sweetness, snapshots of a music old and new.
you can hear ethereal whispering voices backed
by ancient and strange instruments slightly out
of tune, chaos and structure striking a
confusing balance.

ANJA PLASCHG is only 19. with the release of her

vaguely described by the term hiphop.
their distorted beats sample snippets off old free jazz records,
while the words are namechecking legendary types such the NYC gay icon, avant
cellist & disco producer ARTHUR RUSSEL. beware, this bunch of hungry mammals definitely take the musical
approach of posses like DÄLEK or PUBLIC ENEMY to the next
level!

THE NO-NECK BLUES BAND (NNCK)

are you guys ready for the definite freak-out? this unique
american 7 piece ensemble is definitely one of the most confusing and best live
groups to get these days: outsider folk,
fluxus performance madness, psychedelia, improv and outrock,
it all can be found in their genre-blasting musical brew. the darlings of the international festival scene
will be back to europe in 2010, to play selected shows on their own, but also to accompany newcastle's amazing
SURFACE AREA DANCE THEATRE in a piece called YACHO NO MORI.

CANDIE HANK

what a man: PATRIC CATANI began to produce
music in the early 90s in a proto-gabba outfit called E DE COLOGNE,
kicked off the entire breakcore movement with partner GINA D'ORIO as EC80R on
DIGITAL HARDCORE RECORDINGS and is responsible for
most of the beats of the internationally acclaimed hand puppet frenzy PUPPETMASTAZ.
yet, CANDIE is still best if seen on stage, for and excellent mixture of humour,
madness and noisy polka beats. HANK GOD IT'S CANDIE!.

DRIVER&DRIVER

watch out! this is PATRIC CATANI's
latest incarnation: a
highly energetic duo with berlin's legendary nutter
CHRIS IMLER, berlin's much-in-demand sideman and "drummer to call".
in concert this is an
electronics-meets-kick-ass-drums take on punk
rock, with both protagonists
screaming themselves throughout a
set full of lust for life, while the first
recordings remind us a bit to a techno influenced version
of our adored 80es minimalists TRIO: pull over, driver, these guys are moving much too fast!

FELIX KUBIN

FELIX KUBIN is a phenomenon. the former member of the pseudo-stalinist
scandal troupe LIEDERTAFEL MARGOT HONECKER who started off
making music in his early teens around 1980 as part of the
notorious hamburg punk scene. today
the "whirlwind of the manual" is simply one of the best live acts to get on the electronic music circuit.
people who didn't catch him on one of the countless KUBIN shows
between new york, düdingen and moscow over the last few years don't know
what they're missing: dadaistic electro pop, kongotronic
futurism and pure organ wizardry.

KAMMERFLIMMER KOLLEKTIEF

they are the godfathers of cosmic country: karlsruhe's finest are
willing to take their delicate and cinematic music to the stage again.
In its dialogue with the sound, the collective,
nowadays mostly performing as a trio around main man THOMAS WEBER,
is merging electronic data folk with real instruments and even more so,
with body and soul. the group's upcoming record,
a rather song-infused offering called WILDLING is highlighting
the voice of HEIKE AUM†LLER, will feature a lovely LEE SCRATCH PERRY cover and
out on STAUBGOLD february 2nd, 2010.

2010 with the first studio album in 8 years.
while it is not yet completely sure if this record will be called LAST WILL BE FIRST or
even LAST WILL BE FAUST,
we can confirm that this will
be an other massive and mysterious master piece
straight out of FAUST's south
german headquarters based in a former paper factory on the shores of the danube river,
conceived together with legendary
percussion master Z'EV. expect more
mindblowing live shows following the album release.

OVAL

we all know that
trademark "shuffling cd" sound
of the early (may we say "classic"?) OVAL
works from the 90es - not to mention SYSTEMISCH,
that one "island record" of electronic music. after MARKUS
POPP's very own brainchild OVAL had turned into a software program,
celebrating the vanishing of the author, we were very surprised to throw an ear
on this musical originator's latest demo recordings: super abstract noises are confronted
with programmed, pulsating free form drums - a new chapter in OVAL music. we are more than eager to
hear these delicate sounds in concert...
