A generous sideman and bandleader, multi-instrumentalist Malcolm Jiyane stands at the vanguard of a prodigious generation of young musicians. His life story, from street kid receiving education from veteran jazz musicians to one of the greatest hopes of the bristling South-African jazz scene, is an awe-spiring one. In 2021, he released „Umdali“, his first album as a leader to critical acclaim on the much-lauded local Mushroom Hour Half Hour imprint. After a short whistle-stop in Europe with collective SPAZA playing key festivals like Roskilde and North Sea Jazz last summer, we are over the moon about the chance to present this amazing musician and gentle soul on his first proper tour in 2023!
