since BRIAN SHIMKOVITZ (the guy behind the long-running AWESOME TAPES FROM AFRICA blog and the eponymous label) moved to BERLIN in spring 2012, he has played more than 50 shows all over europe: enthusiastic audiences between MADRID and TAMPERE, in ROME and on the tiny danish island of SEJERØ listened and danced to BRIAN's well-crafted sets exclusively constructed from rare african cassette tapes. besides being loads of fun, his DJ-sets are offering an ethnomusicologal close-up to the hidden musical cultures of an entire continent. why don't you treat yourself and spice up your club night or your festival with the a special AWESOME TAPES show?
